Period and heritage properties

Older buildings need a decorator who knows when to slow down. Luke has done restoration and heritage work on period properties across Cornwall for years.

Heritage work we've done

Exterior decorating on St Michael's Mount, including the window restoration in our work; interior works for the St Aubyn's Estate; and the decoration of an 1840s period property in Penzance in Farrow & Ball and Edward Bulmer colours.

What our clients notice

Simon Bishop wrote that his old Victorian property was "restored very sympathetically". That means keeping original timber where it can be saved, using breathable coatings on old walls, and taking time over the detail.

Materials for old buildings

Lime coatings and breathable sealers on stone and lime render, oil-based finishes on period joinery, traditional putty on sash windows, and flat, chalky paints inside where they suit the house.

Where we work

We cover all of Cornwall from Penzance, including Penzance, St Ives, Hayle, Helston, Falmouth, Redruth, Truro, Newquay, St Austell, St Just.
